The K-Zone: AG's ref 2 (1992)

In the case to which this reference refers ([1993] QB 91 Court of Appeal), a motorist pleaded Automatism as a defence in a charge of causing death by reckless driving. The evidence showed that the defendant was able to steer in a straight line and recognize flashing lights, so the defence should not have been allowed. Automatism requires a `total destruction of voluntary control'.
