The K-Zone: after the event insurance
An insurance policy taken out `after the event' that gave rise
to a cause of action in law. Such a policy may be needed to
cover the risk of losing an action and being compelled to
pay the winning party's costs. Under the
Conditional Fees Agreement Regulations (2000) the premium of
such a policy is recoverable from the losing party if the
policy holder wins the case, provided that various procedural
formalities have been complied with.
