About this project
Last modified: Tue Nov 7 10:37:40 2006
This glossary contains definitions of, and short articles about, terms and
concepts in English law. There are some longer and more detailed articles as well.
I compiled this site during
my studies for the LLB degree. Some subject areas have moderately good
coverage, while some are somewhat bereft. Unlike other, similar sites, this one
is collaborative. That is, if you disagree with something I've written, or you
find a mistake, or just want to add something, you can edit the site. All you need
to do is to register, which takes about two minutes. You can then edit all
the articles directly from your web browser -- just click the `Edit' link at the
bottom of each page.
These articles were based on my understanding of the
law, as it stood at the time of writing. There is a
problem here which should be fairly obvious:
my interpretation may simply not be correct. Moreover,
decisions in new cases are revising our understanding of many of these
topics on an almost daily basis. I have made no particular effort to
update the entries for cases which have been superceded by new holdings.
But you can do so, if you wish.
This information is presented in the hope that it
will be helpful to other law students, but of course I
won't accept responsibility for any
adverse consequences that follow from its use. Please send comments,
criticisms, etc., to me, Kevin Boone
(contact details).
Please note that I receive a large volume
of correspondence about legal matters, very often asking for advice
about specific legal problems. I am neither competent nor
adequately insured
to answer such questions and, although I attempt to reply rationally
to all e-mail I receive, I can't promise to do so. I certainly don't claim to
offer an expert opinion on any subject.
