arrest
Last modified: Thu Feb 23 16:37:37 2006
To arrest someone is to apprehend that person, perhaps forcibly,
to bring him or her to answer criminal charges, or to
prevent a BreachOfThePeace.
`Arrest' is a morally neutral term; a person who is deprived
of his liberty is arrested, whether for good reasons or bad.
That is to say, one can argue that a person apprehended
was arrested lawfully, but it is incorrect to claim that he
was never arrested.
For more information,
see the articles on `power of arrest' see: PowerOfArrest.
and `arrest procedure' (see: ArrestProcedure).
