Novus Actus Interveniens
Last modified: Thu Feb 23 16:37:37 2006
`Newly intervening act'. A novus actus is something which `breaks the ChainOfCausation', and detaches the defendant's culpable act from the victim's loss or injury. For a discussion of this principle in criminal law, see CausationInCriminalLiability; in tort see CausationInTort.
