R v Halliday (1886)

This case ([1886] All ER Rep 1028) demonstrates how
causation in Assault need not be direct.
The accused threatened his wife, who tried to escape by
leaping out of a window. His daughter caught hold of
her, but the accused threatened his daughter such that
she let the wife fall to the ground. He was convicted.
