This treaty was signed in 1986, in an attempt to speed up of introduction of new EULegislation, which had been hindered by the repeated use, or threat of use, of the NationalVeto. The Act widened the scope of the QualifiedMajorityVote, and increased the powers of the EuropeanParliament.
