Statute

A Statute, or Act of Parliament, is a specific piece of
PrimaryLegislation introduced into the
body of law by Parliament, often under the guidance
of the Government (see: LegislativeProcess).
UK statutes tend to be broad in
scope, so typically less than a hundred are passed each year.
However, statutes aren't the only form of primary legislation in the
UK: some EuropeanUnion legislation has to be regarded as
primary as well.
