suicide pact
Last modified: Thu Feb 23 16:37:38 2006
An attempt by (usually) two people to bring about each others' deaths.
This is the only case where English law recognizes consent as
a defence to a murder charge. If upheld, a defence of suicide pact
reduces the offence of murder to that of manslaughter, allowing
a lighter sentence to be imposed.
