trades union
Last modified: Thu Feb 23 16:37:38 2006
A body that represents the interests of a body of employees, often
associated with many different employers. A trades union is
not a corporation (see: Corporation) and therefore does not
have strict legal identity apart from its members. But a trades
union does have some legal obligations. It can, for example,
take part in civil court proceedings in its own right, as distinct
from its members.
